Welcome!

Located in the historic james e pepper distillery, middle fork kitchen bar (mfkb) creates seasonal, creative fare, much of it, cooked over a live wood-burning fire.

Owned & led in the kitchen by chef mark jensen, mfkb operates with creativity & passion. Throughout the menu, the restaurant is the culmination of the inspirations & influences from the past and present.

Informed by the dynamics of the season, the context of the district, & the enthusiasm of his team, jensen combines ingredients, cuisines, & a appreciation for the craft for a fun & delicious result, offering a comfortably bold take on the traditional dining experience.

By stripping the stuffiness out of fine dining, yet keeping the highest culinary standards, mfkb is a more casual, comfortable dining experience. It is our goal to provide exceptional service through our attention to detail, & in-depth knowledge of our products & menu.

The restaurant space itself is equally unique. Upon entering you are greeted with a view of the completely open kitchen & wood-burning hearth. jensen and the talented team at mfkb, have created a sense of transparency.

See the flow, eat, drink, enjoy.

The restaurant’s name is a tip of the hat to the great elkhorn river, we sit on the banks of the middle fork of the elkhorn to be exact. We call it the town branch, here in lexington. This little stretch of water is what our beautiful town was originally founded on way back in 1775.

The work of careful craftsmanship and hospitality continues. Please come join us. Let our staff welcome & guide you through the night with our ever changing menu, craft cocktails, exceptional wines, & our carefully selected craft beers & ciders.

“We like to think that our plates are sharable.
In our minds, nothing is more fun than ordering for the table.
You not only get to enjoy a variety of dishes, you get to create your own experience.”
